Aslan

Aslan Airborn 1973 (and Hartsong cover)
 Glory Day
 On My Way
 Sonshine
Homespun rural lazy-Sunday-afternoon Georgia folkrock outfit featuring Scott Roley. A light basement feel pervades side 1 with piano out in front and twangy electric guitar. Side 2 is quieter, mostly heartfelt acoustic ballads. Gentle male/female harmonies throughout. Nice use of harpsichord on 'Sonshine'. 'Further Up And Further In' would resurface on Albrecht & Roley as well as the first Albrecht Roley & Moore lp. Assisted and engineered by Ron Moore. Beautiful yellow and gold sleeve showing the head of a lion. Elaborate tri-fold lyric insert with additional artwork. Re-issued on Hartsong with a different cover. KS

From the liner notes:
The group Aslan was formed in Spring Arbor, Michigan, in the fall of 1972. The name comes from the protagonist of C.S. Lewis's children's classics "The Chronicles of Narnia." This collection of ten songs recorded in Atlanta, Georgia, during the spring of 1973, serves at the group's only production. The original members of Aslan are Jeff Roley on drums, Scott Roley on guitar and vocals, Ted Kallman on guitar and vocals, Linda Kendall on percussion and vocals, Greg Buick on keyboards, and Martin Vipond on bass.

Aslan toured regionally in the Midwest throughout Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Michigan. They were featured in concert halls, coffee houses, supper clubs, churches, and colleges. The group reformed as "Stillwaters" in January of 1974 and disbanded later in that year.
