Steve Camp

Born and raised in Wheaten, Illinois, Steve Camp grew up in a strong Christian family. Like many artists, Steve began his musical career at a very young age. He started his first band when he was in the sixth grade, and later while in high school he was a member of "The Campus Life Singers."
But Steve's personal involvement with music through his own songwriting abilities did not develop until his years in college. It was there that he found it was much easier to communicate his faith through a song composition than by talking one on one with an individual. Because of his own personal shyness, his music became the medium for sharing his testimony of Christ.

The event that most effected Steve's musical personality was the death of his father. Through this very personal experience of loss, Steve began to compose songs that were reflections of his own deepest feelings. It was after his father's death that he wrote two of the songs on his debut album, "Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled" and "Song For Mom." Steve's involvement with early Christian music included his work on Petra's COME AND JOIN US album and Scott Wesley Brown's I'M NOT RELIGIOUS, as well as his close friend-ship with Larry Norman. Several of the songs on his first album were written along with Larry.

Describing his music Steve says, "The style I try to write is a pop-Jamaican type of rock with a reggae kind of feel. I try to make my songs middle-of-the-road, easy-listening-pop. I want my music to appeal to the young and the very old alike."
