Knights of the Lord's Table

Knights of the Lords Table Holy Kiss 1976
Definitely the coolest lp on Randy Matthews' custom label. The Knights are Kevin Johnson and Joseph Ravitts and roughly half their lp picks up on that medieval theme using such instruments as harpsichord and recorders. The other half is kind of hit and miss, skipping from rock to country rock to novelty rock to ccm rock, vocally over-dramatic at times. But tracks like 'The Fable of Young Roderick' and 'Jesus Lover Of Men' are worthy of a Kemper Crabb or Arkangel lp. Other classics include the anthemic opening rocker 'The Lord's Table' (avec le fuzz and deep chanting), the whimsical 'Bold Musketeer' in march time, and the album's closer 'The Open-Ended Dream'. Very original. KS
