Shinin' In The Light Destiny 1972
Reach Out To Jesus
Jesus Is
Love Of Jesus
Good handclappin' jangly folkrock tunes here from the trio of Paul Amschler and Gary & Debbie Cowan, but also some acoustic rock with a bit of organ in the Harvest Flight vein (of which producer Evan Williams was a member). Nice percussion and resonant guitar work on 'He Died' and the 8-minute 'Broken Wing'. Original cover has brown logo on yellow background, later replaced with a photo of the band in covered wagon. The Exodus Destiny 1975
Bigger production for the sophomore effort, even dragging in the Pitu Gull Folk Orchestra (whoever they are) for the mysterious title track, playing such commonplace instruments as gaida, gadulka, tamboura. tapan, and kaval (sounds like bagpipes to me). The Evan Williams touch is definitely here: the wah-wah guitar, acoustic guitars upfront. Fuller sound, more diverse, some bluegrass, blues, r&b, orchestrated ballads, succeeding more often than not. Lots more assistance this time from the likes of Al Perkins, David Diggs, others. Sure fits into that early Maranatha country-ish folkrock sound - in fact the label later picked up the lp for distribution. KS
