Vatten
(Sweden)

Formed in Sweden, Vatten were a three piece rock band in the ZZ Top tradition. The band consisted of Guitarist Tomas Ernvik, Bass player Bjorn Millton and Drummer Danne Gansmoe. Their first big break came in 1977 when Garth Hewitt heard them play on a visit to Sweden. He liked what he heard and sent a demo tape of the band to the Greenbelt Festival Committee in the U.K. The band then appeared at the festival the following year and impressed agent Simon Law who was the managing Director of Plankton Records.

The bands second album ‘Plainwater’ released in 1978 was produced by the band and was released in England on the Plankton Label. The music was raw and energetic with no overdubs almost like a live album recorded in the studio. The lyrics Were not overtly evangelical and tackled other subjects not usually associated with Christian Rock Bands. Mike Edmunds
